Rep. Mike Turner: Biden ‘Signals’ Hostage Deal Part of ‘Informal’ Nuclear Deal, Warns of ‘Secret’ Agreement

The Biden administration is “signaling” that its recent deal with Tehran is part of a “broader deal involving Iran’s enrichment program,” said House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH), who expressed “great concern about a possible “secret deal”. along with the lack of overview.

Speaking on CBSs Face the nation on Sunday, Turner noted that a real “concern” about the recent deal is that “we are not really informed about it.

“At this point, we have not received the terms of the deal, or even what the proposed deal is,” he said.

The Republican representative explained that by doing so, President Joe Biden “indicated” his intent to enter into an “informal” Iran deal without the necessary oversight.

“The government has indicated that the release of these detainees is part of a broader negotiation regarding the restoration of some controls on Iran’s nuclear weapons and enrichment programs, dating back to the JCPOA. And the concern is that — the New York Times has reported — the administration may be pursuing an informal deal as opposed to the formal deal we had before that had congressional oversight,” he said.

While the Biden administration should “work diligently to bring Americans home, whether in Iran, Russia or elsewhere,” Turner insisted it was different.

“But in this case, the government is signaling that this is part of a broader deal related to Iran’s enrichment program,” he said. “And if that becomes a secret deal, of course that’s very worrying for Congress.”

Asked about reported steps Iran has taken to curb some of its nuclear development, the congressman argued that there are no “real reports of anything being cut back.”

“They’re currently at 60 percent of enrichment,” he said. “They used to be 3.5 percent below the JCPOA; they are at 60 percent 1692658503. They had a year ‘escape’ achieve the level of enrichment that could result [them getting] a weapon – they are now weeks away.

According to Turner, “They are now freezing, where earlier in the JCPOA agreement they actually encircled some of their enrichment that they had that was higher than the levels that were being pursued – in this, if we just have a deal that freezes where Iran is and really, without understanding all aspects of their program, because they kicked out all UN inspectors from the IAEA; they had removed the cameras from the sites; we really don’t have a good understanding of where they are or what they are doing right now.

The comments come days after Republican officials blasted the Biden administration for “bowing down to the ayatollah” and “endangering” Americans after it struck a deal with the Iranian regime to transfer five Iranian-Americans from prison to house arrest in exchange for billions in unfrozen credits.

On Thursday, the Biden administration’s deal reached Tehran defrost $6 billion in Iranian financial assets and the release of a “handful” of Iranian nationals imprisoned for violating US sanctions in exchange for five Americans imprisoned by Iran on highly dubious espionage charges.

“Iran’s frozen assets in South Korea will be unblocked and transferred to Qatar,” Iran’s mission to the United Nations said, apparently referring to the $6 billion figure.

American sources who spoke to the far left New York Times publication and Reuters confirmed the financial aspects of the deal.

Israeli officials said the exchange deal is part of broader agreements between the Islamic Republic and the US, “which have been working on an informal settlement” to limit Tehran’s nuclear program. according to according to a report by the Times of Israel.

Last month, Breitbart News marked reports that President Biden has already reached an “unwritten” nuclear deal with Iran, under which the regime will just stop developing a nuclear weapon.

The recent deal follows massive protests that have taken place swept Iran after the September death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while in the custody of the Islamic theocracy’s notorious “morals police” for violating strict requirements for women to keep their heads covered in public.

Since then, a slew of incidents of abuses and even deaths at the hands of the regime have been documented amid an ongoing repression of protests, with clips circulating showing officers of the Iranian regime brutally attacking protesters.

Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, has long viewed the United States as a major adversary and has often done so accused the US of inciting protesters in an attempt to “destabilize” the region.

Former spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi confirmed that America is the greatest enemy of the Iranian republic, while the “supreme leader” of the Islamic Republic has boasted of the United States, assuring a crowd of supporters that their “Death to America!” chants were yet to be fulfilled, as a “new order” would relegate the US to isolation.

Last week, reports revealed that Tehran is approaching the testing phase of a nuclear weapon and has been pursuing unauthorized technology for its ongoing nuclear weapons initiative.
