CNN’s Demands: New York Fraud Trial Could ‘End’ the Trump Organization
CNN legal analyst Norm Eisen said Thursday on CNN’s “The Situation Room” that the civil fraud trial in New York could put an end to former President Donald Trump’s business organization.
Anchor Wolf Blitzer asked: “What is the risk to the Trump Organization right now?”
Eisen said, “Well, it’s substantial, Wolf, including the fact that when all these trials and appeals are done, it can no longer be called the Trump Organization. Not only is it the massive financial penalties of over $300 million for the misconduct that the Attorney General is asking for, but there is also a preliminary injunction that this judge has already ordered. It has been suspended pending the appeal. This judge has already ordered some of the remedies that can be termed as capital punishment for corporations.”
He added: “Trump and his sons are not allowed to participate in the company, are not allowed to do any other business, are not allowed to take out loans for a certain period of time, perhaps putting a trustee in charge. If all that happens and if it holds up on appeal, and I think the judge was careful, as with Eric and Don Jr.’s comments, he shows poise. If it holds up on appeal, it could mean the end of the Trump Organization as we have known it for all these years.”
